AI PLAGIARISM POLICY

The AI Plagiarism Policy at Enigma Business School (EBS) establishes clear guidelines regarding the ethical and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in academic work. While EBS embraces technological advancement and encourages students to utilize AI as a supportive resource, the school maintains strict boundaries to prevent academic dishonesty, misrepresentation, and misuse of AI-generated content.

This policy ensures that all academic submissions reflect genuine student understanding, original thinking, and professional integrity.

Purpose of the Policy

The AI Plagiarism Policy is designed to:

  • Prevent students from submitting AI-generated work as their own

  • Distinguish acceptable from unacceptable uses of AI tools

  • Maintain fairness and academic credibility

  • Protect the authenticity of learning outcomes in a self-paced digital environment

  • Educate students on ethical AI integration in academic tasks

AI is a tool for assistance—not a replacement for student learning or intellectual effort.

Definition of AI Plagiarism

AI Plagiarism occurs when a student:

  • Submits AI-generated content (from tools such as ChatGPT, Bard, Copilot, etc.) as original work

  • Uses AI to generate essays, assignments, analyses, or exam answers without disclosure

  • Attempts to bypass learning requirements by relying solely on AI content creation

  • Modifies AI-generated output superficially and presents it as personal work

  • Uses AI tools to fabricate data, citations, or research findings

AI-generated work is considered non-original unless properly credited and used within EBS guidelines.

Acceptable Use of AI (Permitted)

Students may use AI tools under the following conditions:

  • To brainstorm ideas or generate initial inspiration

  • To clarify difficult concepts or request explanations

  • To check grammar and language, limited to linguistic refinement

  • To assist in structuring outlines or improving readability

  • To support research navigation, such as finding relevant topics or sources

AI tools may support but must not produce the core academic output.

Students must acknowledge AI assistance when used.

Unacceptable Use of AI (Prohibited)

The following uses are strictly prohibited and classified as AI Plagiarism:

  • Generating full or partial assignment responses using AI

  • Submitting AI-written essays as personal work

  • Using AI to answer quiz, exam, or graduation exam questions

  • Using AI to write research papers, case analyses, or dissertation content

  • Asking AI to paraphrase sources extensively to mask plagiarism

  • Using AI to generate falsified data, citations, interviews, or references

Any attempt to conceal AI involvement is a violation of Academic Integrity.

Disclosure Requirement

If a student uses AI for acceptable purposes, they must disclose it in a simple statement, such as:

“AI tools were used to support idea generation and grammar refinement. All final content is my own.”

Failure to disclose AI assistance may result in academic penalties.

Detection of AI Plagiarism

EBS uses multiple AI-detection and originality tools to evaluate submissions, including:

  • AI content classifiers

  • Plagiarism detection software

  • Digital similarity reports

  • Human academic review

Any suspicious patterns will be examined by the Academic Integrity Committee.

Penalties for Violations

Violations of the AI Plagiarism Policy may result in:

  • Warning and required resubmission

  • Grade reduction or assignment failure

  • Course failure

  • Academic probation

  • Suspension of LMS access

  • Disqualification from Graduation Exam

  • Revocation of degree (for severe or repeated violations)

Penalties are proportional to the severity of misconduct.

Guidelines for Ethical Use of AI

Students are encouraged to:

  • Use AI as a support tool, not as a writer

  • Maintain originality in arguments and analysis

  • Combine AI assistance with personal understanding

  • Cite real academic sources instead of relying on AI-generated claims

  • Ask faculty for guidance when unsure

Ethical AI use enhances learning rather than undermining it.

Special Notes for Self-Paced Learning

Because EBS uses a fully self-paced model:

  • Students bear greater responsibility for original work

  • AI misuse can severely distort personal learning outcomes

  • Independence in assignments is essential for credibility and degree value

AI misuse undermines the purpose of flexible education.

Institutional Statement

Enigma Business School endorses AI as a powerful academic support tool but firmly rejects its misuse for academic dishonesty. This policy protects the integrity of EBS degrees and ensures that all students meet genuine learning outcomes aligned with global academic standards.

EBS remains committed to upholding an ethical, innovative, and responsible academic environment where technology supports—not replaces—human intellect.
