Definition of AI Plagiarism

AI Plagiarism occurs when a student:

  • Submits AI-generated content (from tools such as ChatGPT, Bard, Copilot, etc.) as original work

  • Uses AI to generate essays, assignments, analyses, or exam answers without disclosure

  • Attempts to bypass learning requirements by relying solely on AI content creation

  • Modifies AI-generated output superficially and presents it as personal work

  • Uses AI tools to fabricate data, citations, or research findings

AI-generated work is considered non-original unless properly credited and used within EBS guidelines.

Acceptable Use of AI (Permitted)

Students may use AI tools under the following conditions:

  • To brainstorm ideas or generate initial inspiration

  • To clarify difficult concepts or request explanations

  • To check grammar and language, limited to linguistic refinement

  • To assist in structuring outlines or improving readability

  • To support research navigation, such as finding relevant topics or sources

AI tools may support but must not produce the core academic output.

Students must acknowledge AI assistance when used.

Unacceptable Use of AI (Prohibited)

The following uses are strictly prohibited and classified as AI Plagiarism:

  • Generating full or partial assignment responses using AI

  • Submitting AI-written essays as personal work

  • Using AI to answer quiz, exam, or graduation exam questions

  • Using AI to write research papers, case analyses, or dissertation content

  • Asking AI to paraphrase sources extensively to mask plagiarism

If a student uses AI for acceptable purposes, they must disclose it in a simple statement, such as:

“AI tools were used to support idea generation and grammar refinement. All final content is my own.”

Failure to disclose AI assistance may result in academic penalties.

Detection of AI Plagiarism

EBS uses multiple AI-detection and originality tools to evaluate submissions, including:

Penalties for Violations
